Jessica Simpson Shares How Motherhood Changed Her Body Image and Boosted Confidence

In an exclusive interview, Jessica Simpson discusses how becoming a mother to three has significantly altered her body image and increased her confidence. Learn about her fitness regimen, her views on self-acceptance, and how she copes with public scrutiny.

Jessica Simpson’s public image has long revolved around her physique, but now she’s shedding light on how motherhood has shifted her perspective. Parenting Maxwell, 11, Ace, 10, and Birdie, 5 (with husband Eric Johnson) has deepened her appreciation for her body and bolstered her confidence.

“It wasn’t until I became a mother that I learned to celebrate what a woman’s body can do,” Jessica shared with People in an interview published on April 16. “I am more confident now after three kids than I was at 25.”

The fashion mogul has embraced every stage of her body, recognizing the time it takes to reclaim one’s pre-pregnancy physique. “It takes three to four years to get your body back after having kids,” she acknowledged, unveiling her current fitness regimen of walking and weight training, emphasizing moderation.

In addition to structured exercise, chasing after her energetic youngest, Birdie, keeps her on her toes. “That lady can move!” the 43-year-old exclaimed. “She is 5 and always on the go. She is definitely the boss baby of our family.”

Surprisingly, Jessica feels most confident not in her iconic Daisy Dukes, but in swimwear. “I have every size bikini possible,” she admitted. “I even wore a bikini when I was 9-months pregnant. I always love a classic triangle bikini. I like the push up, especially after kids.”

Offering encouragement to those grappling with body image issues, the “With You” singer urged, “Wear whatever makes you feel confident!”

Jessica’s journey to self-love hasn’t been without its challenges. In November 2022, she addressed the impact of public scrutiny on her mental well-being, reflecting on how comments about her weight took a toll despite her efforts to tune out negativity.

“As much as I have learned to block out destructive noise…people’s comments and judgments can still hurt deeply with their incessant nagging ‘you will never be good enough,'” Jessica shared on Instagram at the time. “The most important thing I have learned through the last 5 years without alcohol being a guard for escapism, is that I CAN and ALWAYS WILL get through it.”

While Jessica Simpson bravely shares her journey, she’s not the only celebrity to navigate the ups and downs of weight fluctuations over time. Explore further to discover how other stars have tackled their body transformations.
