Jill Biden Insists President Biden Continue Re-Election Bid Despite Criticism

Democratic donors are frustrated as First Lady Jill Biden insists President Biden remain in the race despite calls for him to step aside after a poor debate performance.

Bollywood Fever: Democrat donors and insiders are increasingly frustrated with First Lady Jill Biden for not advising her husband to drop out of the presidential race. Following President Joe Biden’s poorly received debate performance, it appears that Jill is the strongest advocate for his continued candidacy.

Recent days have seen a growing chorus of Democrats openly calling for a new nominee after President Biden stumbled over his words and lost his train of thought multiple times during Thursday’s debate with Donald Trump. However, according to hedge fund manager and market expert Dougie Kass, Jill Biden, 73, is insistent that President Biden, 81, should continue his run for reelection.

NBC News reported on Saturday night that President Biden plans to discuss the future of his re-election campaign with his family at Camp David. A source familiar with the matter told the network that the president will only heed advice from his wife of nearly 50 years. “The only person who has ultimate influence with him is the first lady,” they said. “If she decides there should be a change of course, there will be a change of course.”

Jill Biden was mocked for claiming at a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, that her husband did extremely well in the debate and “answered all the questions.” Some Republicans, like Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-Wy.), accused Jill of “elder abuse” for pushing President Biden to continue campaigning despite his struggles.

The New York Times reported that Jill viewed Biden’s debate performance as merely “a bad night.” Despite calls for him to step down, top Democratic leaders, including former President Barack Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi, continue to publicly support Biden.

Some donors skipped Biden’s $250,000-per-head Hamptons fundraiser at hedge fund manager Barry Rosenstein’s estate after his debate performance. One donor told the New York Post, “Lots of people are blaming his wife… for not telling him [to step aside].”

While Biden’s trip to Camp David was planned before the debate, it offers a break from the campaign trail with his children and grandchildren. His deputy campaign manager, Rob Flaherty, argued in an email that any discussion of Biden dropping out would lead to “weeks of chaos” and benefit Donald Trump.

Insiders say the decision-making power rests with the president and his wife. “The decision-makers are two people — it’s the president and his wife,” one source told NBC. They added that Jill’s influence is paramount in any decision regarding the campaign’s future.

As President Biden heads to Camp David, the political landscape remains tense, with Democrats waiting to see what course the Biden family will chart in the coming days.
