Jon Stewart Pays Emotional Tribute to His Beloved Dog Dipper on ‘The Daily Show
Bollywoodfever, February 27: Jon Stewart dedicated a portion of Monday’s Daily Show to honor his beloved dog Dipper, who passed away on Sunday.
Stewart recounted the heartwarming story of Dipper’s adoption, which happened about 12 or 13 years ago.
His children had organized a bake sale to support Animal Haven, a no-kill animal shelter in New York City.
To encourage donations, the shelter introduced Stewart and his family to a one-year-old brindle pitbull who had been injured by a car in Brooklyn, resulting in the loss of his right leg.
Overcome with emotion, Stewart shared, “They placed the dog on my lap, and we left feeling great for supporting a wonderful cause, and with a new family member we named Dipper. Among all the good boys, he was the finest.”
Dipper became a regular at the Daily Show set, joining what Stewart referred to as the “OG Daily Show dog crew.” He would wait patiently for Stewart during tapings, having the chance to meet a wide array of guests, including “actors, authors, presidents, and kings.” Stewart humorously noted that Dipper managed to intimidate Malala Yousafzai, something even the Taliban couldn’t achieve, showcasing a clip of the Nobel laureate cautiously avoiding Dipper.
Reflecting on Dipper’s final moments, Stewart observed that while Dipper seemed prepared for his departure, he himself was not.
The family came together to bid farewell to their cherished pet. Stewart expressed his hope that everyone might experience the love of a remarkable pet like Dipper, concluding his tribute with a “Moment of Zen” featuring Dipper joyfully playing in the snow.
Dipper’s passing was also acknowledged on the Daily Show Dogs Instagram account, with a tribute that celebrated the three-legged Pit Bull mix’s seamless integration into the show’s environment and the lasting impact he had on all who met him.
