Photographer Alleges Taylor Swift’s Father Punched Him on Sydney Waterfront
Melbourne, Bollywoodfever, February 27: A photographer reported to the police that he was punched in the face by Taylor Swift‘s father on the Sydney waterfront on Tuesday, shortly after the conclusion of the pop star’s Australian tour.
Ben McDonald stated that he provided authorities with an account alleging that Scott Swift assaulted him at Neutral Bay Wharf, where the father and daughter had just disembarked from a yacht.
The media office of the New South Wales Police Force confirmed that they were investigating an alleged assault involving a 51-year-old man and a 71-year-old man at 2:30 a.m. The police did not disclose names, consistent with their policy regarding such incidents.
A spokesperson for the star informed Rolling Stone magazine that, during the incident, two individuals were aggressively attempting to reach Taylor Swift, even grabbing security personnel and threatening a member of the singer’s staff.
McDonald recounted how media personnel were waiting to photograph the star as she walked with her entourage from a jetty to two awaiting vehicles.
There were about four or five security personnel there, and at one point, one of the American security personnel started pushing his umbrella into me and my camera.
Then Taylor got into her car,” McDonald told the AP. “Someone else approached me and punched me on the left side of my face. Initially, I thought it was an Australian security guard trying to take charge in front of the Americans, but it turned out to be her father,” McDonald added.
McDonald realized that the individual who allegedly assaulted him was not part of the security team after reviewing photos from the evening and seeing a picture of him holding Swift’s hand. McDonald later identified Scott Swift from an online image.
Taylor Swift departed the country via a private jet on Tuesday, following the conclusion of the Australian leg of her Eras Tour, which was attended by over 600,000 fans at seven Australian stadium concerts.
The experienced paparazzo stated that despite not sustaining serious injuries, he decided to report the assault to the police.
“It was just a punch in the face. It’s a bit tender, but I don’t have any bruising, and I didn’t need medical attention,” McDonald said. In 23 years, I’ve never been assaulted or punched in the face, especially not by the talent’s father,” he added.
McDonald asserted that there was no justification for violence.
“We didn’t rush down the jetty. We didn’t go to the back of the boat. We waited for her to come up. We kept it very civil,” he said. “But no, they had to be aggressive and put up umbrellas, even shove them into our faces, and then make it seem like we were the ones initiating contact with them,” he added.
