Kansas City Royals drop their fifth straight game in a 2-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Heliot Ramos leads Giants with three hits, and Royals fall further behind in the AL wild card race.
BollywoodFever: The Kansas City Royals’ struggles continued on Friday night as their late-season losing streak extended to five games with a 2-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants.
The defeat dropped the Royals four games behind the Baltimore Orioles for the first AL wild card spot and cut their lead to just one game over the Minnesota Twins for the second wild card position.

Heliot Ramos led the charge for the Giants, collecting three hits, including a two-out double in the sixth inning, which helped extend San Francisco’s lead to 2-0.
San Francisco’s Mason Black (1-4) pitched a career-high 5 2/3 innings of shutout ball, allowing just four hits.
Closer Camilo Doval secured his 23rd save of the season by striking out Tommy Pham with runners on second and third after allowing a sacrifice fly to Garrett Hampson.
Kansas City missed key scoring opportunities, going 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position and leaving nine runners stranded on base.
Michael Wacha (13-8) took the loss for the Royals, giving up two runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Wacha, who has been stellar since late June, dropped to 9-2 in 15 starts since June 22.
San Francisco also dealt with roster changes before the game, placing right-hander Jordan Hicks on the 15-day injured list due to right-shoulder inflammation and recalling Austin Warren from Triple-A Sacramento.
The Royals will look to snap their losing streak in the remaining games of the series as they continue to fight for a postseason berth.
