Sweet Expansion: Krispy Kreme Donuts to Hit All McDonald’s in the US by 2026, Shares Skyrocket”
Krispy Kreme announced its donuts will be distributed across all McDonald’s locations in the United States by the end of 2026, following the success of a pilot initiative, resulting in a 23% jump in Krispy Kreme’s stock on Tuesday.
The test phase began in October 2022, focusing on 160 McDonald’s outlets in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky.
This partnership aims to commence the broader roll-out in the latter half of 2024, with Krispy Kreme committing exclusively to McDonald’s and not supplying its donuts to any other fast-food chain in the U.S. until December 31, 2026.
Krispy Kreme’s strategy includes increasing its presence to over 75,000 access points worldwide, such as fast-food outlets and grocery stores, utilizing a hub-and-spoke model.
The company reported in February a significant growth in access points, adding 2,300 locations in 2023 compared to the previous year.
With shares reaching an eight-month peak, Krispy Kreme is on the brink of achieving its highest-ever percentage increase in stock value.
Meanwhile, McDonald’s operates around 14,000 stores in the U.S. and has ambitious plans to expand its global footprint by approximately 10,000 restaurants by 2027.
The fast-food giant has faced challenges in international markets, including boycotts related to the Israel-Hamas conflict and economic difficulties in China, impacting overseas demand for its offerings.
