Man Fatally Attacked by Mountain Lion in California, Brother Injured in Uncommon Incident
Bollywoodfever, March, 24: In a tragic occurrence in El Dorado County, northwest of Sacramento, California, a mountain lion fatally attacked a 21-year-old man and severely injured his younger brother.Â
This incident, which took place in a secluded forest area near Georgetown on Saturday, marks the state’s first fatal human attack by a mountain lion in approximately 20 years, based on data from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The siblings were searching for shed deer antlers in the forest when they encountered the aggressive mountain lion early in the afternoon.
During the attack, the younger brother, who managed to call emergency services, sustained severe facial injuries and was momentarily separated from his older brother, as reported by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. He received medical treatment at a hospital and is expected to recover.
When deputies arrived in search of the older brother, they discovered a mountain lion lurking near a body on the ground. They discharged their firearms to drive the predator away and provide assistance, only to find the 21-year-old brother had succumbed to his injuries.
Following the attack, wildlife officials located and euthanized the mountain lion involved, and its body was sent to a forensic lab for DNA analysis and further examination.
This incident follows another attack last month in Washington state, where a cougar assaulted a group of cyclists, resulting in a woman being hospitalized with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
