Mayim Bialik Announces Her Departure as Host of the Syndicated ‘Jeopardy!’ Show

The Big Bang Theory alum revealed on her verified social media account on Friday that Sony Pictures Television, the producers of Jeopardy, have informed her that she will “no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy.”

Both Bialik and co-host Ken Jennings received Daytime Emmy nominations for their roles, taking turns at the lectern left vacant by the late Alex Trebek.

Sony appointed Bialik and Jennings to share hosting duties for the long-running syndicated game show last year, concluding a tumultuous period during which the series underwent a messy transition.

This transition involved former showrunner Mike Richards selecting himself for the host role after a series of guest judges. Richards was dismissed a week later following reports, including from The Hollywood Reporter, on discrimination lawsuits during his time as executive producer on The Price Is Right.

Additional reports highlighted crude and offensive jokes he made during a podcast in 2013-14. Richards filmed one day (a week’s worth of Jeopardy! episodes) before resigning as host, and Sony fired him as showrunner shortly thereafter.
