BollywoodFever: Meta, the parent company of Facebook, announced on Friday its latest development in artificial intelligence: a new model called Movie Gen, which creates realistic video and audio clips based on user prompts. The AI tool, according to Meta, is set to compete with leading media generation technologies from companies like OpenAI and ElevenLabs.
Movie Gen can generate a variety of content, from animals swimming and surfing to videos featuring real people performing actions like painting. The tool is also capable of generating background music and sound effects that sync with the video’s content. In addition to creating new clips, Movie Gen allows users to edit existing videos, adding enhancements and dynamic elements.
Some sample clips shared by Meta include a man running through the desert with AI-generated pom-poms and a skateboarder gliding through a parking lot, which the tool transformed into a puddle-covered surface.
With this new development, Meta aims to position Movie Gen as a powerful tool in the growing field of AI-generated media, offering advanced customization and editing options for creators.
