Friedle and Lawrence Playfully Accuse Melissa Joan Hart of Leading to ‘Boy Meets World’ Finale

Bollywoodfever, March 8: Will Friedle has humorously pointed the finger at Melissa Joan Hart and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” for the conclusion of “Boy Meets World.”

“Should Sabrina have been renewed and remained with us, we would’ve moved forward to an eighth season. However, upon its renewal, it shifted networks, leading to the downfall of TGIF, and subsequently, the cancellation of ‘Boy Meets World’. Essentially, the blame falls on Melissa,” Friedle, aged 47, shared during the “Brotherly Love” podcast episode on February 23.

Laughing along, Matthew Lawrence, another “Boy Meets World” veteran, chimed in jest, “Melissa is always to blame!”

Echoing the sentiment, Joey Lawrence, who shared the screen with Joan Hart in “Melissa and Joey” on ABC Family, joined the playful accusation, quipping, “She’s akin to Canada,” humorously adding, “Blame Melissa, blame Melissa.

Melissa Joan Hart, also 47, responded to the light-hearted accusations through a social media post.

Seeking caption ideas, she posted on Instagram on March 8, alongside a podcast clip, “Struggling to find the right caption for this all week. Any ideas? @joeylawrence @matthewlawrence @andrewlawrence #WillFriedle.”

Demonstrating the playful nature of their banter, Joey Lawrence assured there was no animosity, commenting, “Indeed! When unsure, the blame goes to you, Melly!! 😂❤.”

“Sabrina the Teenage Witch” followed the adventures of Sabrina Spellman, portrayed by Joan Hart, a young girl who discovers her witchcraft abilities on her sixteenth birthday. The show initially aired on ABC from 1996 to 2000 as part of the TGIF lineup before transitioning to The WB for its remaining seasons.

Meanwhile, “Boy Meets World” was discontinued by ABC in 2000, after its characters, including Cory (Ben Savage), Topanga (Danielle Fischel), Shawn (Rider Strong), and Eric (Friedle), relocated to New York.

In the aftermath, “Boy Meets World” enjoyed a revival through syndication across various networks, sparking renewed interest that led to the creation of the Disney Channel spinoff, “Girl Meets World,” which aired from 2014 to 2017 over three seasons.

Although the 90s era has passed, the brief romantic connection between Friedle and Joan Hart during their teenage years remains a memorable anecdote.

Joan Hart reminisced about their past dating experiences while appearing on Friedle’s “Pod Meets World” podcast in August 2023.
