Ryan Reynolds Enjoys Hometown Soccer Match with Mother After ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Tour
Ryan Reynolds has been busy promoting his latest superhero adventure, “Deadpool & Wolverine,” around the world. After wrapping up the tour, the Hollywood star took some time to relax and enjoy a soccer match with his mother, Tammy. Reynolds, a co-owner of Wrexham Association Football Club, watched his team face off against Vancouver Whitecaps FC in his hometown of Vancouver, Canada.

As both a club owner and an A-list movie star, Reynolds had the privilege of sitting in a VIP box at BC Place Stadium, accompanied by his mother and friends. The actor, known for his enthusiasm, cheered on The Red Dragons, capturing selfies and engaging with fans. Reynolds’s excitement was palpable as he watched his team deliver a 4-1 win over the Whitecaps in front of 34,738 fans, according to Yahoo Sports.

Throughout the match, Reynolds was animated in the private box, chatting with his mother and guests. He looked stylish in dark green trousers and a black Hawaiian-style shirt over a white tank top, while his mother wore a pinkish-red and white striped shirt with a black baseball cap.
Reynolds shared several moments from the match on social media, including selfies with fans and a cover photo with his co-owner Rob McElhenney. Former Whitecap star and current Canadian national team captain, Alphonso Davies, also joined the team owners, which Reynolds documented in a social media post.

During the game, Reynolds took time to snap selfies with fans, capturing their enthusiasm and excitement. He expressed his gratitude to the Whitecaps for hosting Wrexham and shared his joy of being back in Vancouver after a month-long promotional tour.
“VANCOUVER! Huge thanks to @whitecapsfc for hosting @wrexham_afc. Thanks for being so good to the team and supporters,” Reynolds wrote on Instagram. He added, “I’ve been on the #DeadpoolAndWolverine promo tour for a month — which was like sipping sensory input thru a fire hose. Ending up in my hometown for a few days, seeing family and friends was the best medicine on earth.”
Reynolds also shared his childhood memories of watching games at BC Place Stadium with his father, expressing how surreal it felt to watch his team play there.

“Side note, walking into BC Place Stadium to see my guys play the Whitecaps was a level of surreal I’ll never fully process. I spent my childhood watching Lui Passaglia kick game winners for the @bclions_official. I’d watch with my dad from the nosebleeds but always had the best time. He’d have been blown away by yesterday’s experience.”
Reynolds concluded by thanking Vancouver for their support and for making the experience unforgettable.
Wrexham Association Football Club, founded in 1864, is the oldest club in Wales and the third-oldest professional association football team in the world. The club competes in EFL League One, the third level of the English football league system. Reynolds and actor Rob McElhenney purchased Wrexham AFC in November 2020 through their RR McReynolds Company LLC, completing the deal in February 2021 with overwhelming support from the Wrexham Supporters Trust.
