Fans of Bollywood actor and filmmaker Salman Khan were stunned when two men, allegedly part of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, shot at his Bandra residence early on April 14. The assailants, now identified as Vikas Gupta and Sagar Pal, fired five bullets at Khan’s Galaxy Apartment home. The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police has since recovered a gun and several live cartridges involved in the shooting.
According to the Free Press Journal, police found the gun and cartridges in the Tapi River in Surat, Gujarat, on Monday.
The Crime Branch continues to search the Tapi River for the second weapon used in the attack. The report also mentioned that the guns were supplied to Gupta and Pal by Bishnoi’s gang. Although both were tasked with firing at Khan’s residence, only Pal fired his weapon.
After the incident, they disposed of one gun in the Tapi River. Gupta and Pal kept the other gun; they had taken it to their village in Bihar for shooting practice and stored it in their rented apartment in Panvel. The weapons were acquired about 20-25 days prior to the shooting.
The suspects reportedly received Rs 1 lakh from the gang for the operation. A mediator also spent Rs 1 lakh on logistics for the attackers, including purchasing a second-hand bike, covering housing costs, and facilitating their escape.
Further charges may be added to the FIR as the investigation progresses. The accused will remain in Crime Branch custody until April 25. The Free Press Journal additionally notes that Mumbai police plan to request custody of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, currently held in Tihar Jail, after gathering more evidence.
On the professional front, Salman Khan is set to appear in AR Murugadoss’ upcoming action film and has projects like Vishu Vardhan and Karan Johar’s “The Bull” upcoming. Reports also suggest a potential collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan in YRF’s spy thriller “Pathaan vs Tiger.
