Star Trek: Discovery Actor Kenneth Mitchell Passed Away at 49
Bollywoodfever, February 25: Kenneth Mitchell, known for his versatile roles in Star Trek: Discovery, Jericho, and Captain Marvel, passed away at the age of 49 due to complications from ALS, as revealed by his family on Saturday.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Mitchell’s family honored his resilience and positivity throughout his five-and-a-half-year battle with ALS, highlighting his unwavering commitment to embracing each moment with grace.
Mitchell publicly disclosed his ALS diagnosis in 2020, recounting the initial shock and disbelief upon learning about the terminal illness.
During his time on Star Trek: Discovery, Mitchell portrayed three Klingon characters across the first two seasons, adapting to the progression of his illness by incorporating a hoverchair into his portrayal of Aurellio in Season 3.
He also lent his voice to multiple characters in the first season of Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Mitchell’s contributions to television extended beyond Star Trek, with notable roles such as Eric Green in CBS’ Jericho and Joseph Danvers in Captain Marvel.
Throughout his career, Mitchell remained passionate about his craft, finding inspiration and purpose in his work, particularly within the Star Trek universe.
He is survived by his wife Susan, their children Lilah and Kallum, as well as his parents, in-laws, and several nieces and nephews.
