Caitlin Clark, fresh off being selected as the first pick in the WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever, celebrated her one-year anniversary with boyfriend Connor McCaffrey. The couple, who went Instagram-official in August, both marked the occasion with heartfelt posts. Clark uploaded a black-and-white photo with the caption: ‘One year of the best mems w my fav person. ‘You make everyday better and I can’t wait for many more adventures together… love you.‘

Connor McCaffrey reciprocated with his own Instagram tribute, writing: ‘One year with the best. ‘Doing life with u has been easy, and you never cease to amaze me. Can’t wait to watch u live out ur (sic) dreams in person. Love you.‘

The couple met at Iowa where McCaffrey was a standout baseball player with aspirations for the MLB Draft, though his plans were interrupted by the pandemic.

On the professional front, Clark is set to make a significant impact in the WNBA. She comes off a stellar season where she averaged 31.6 points and led the Hawkeyes to their second consecutive national championship game. In addition to her sports achievements, Clark is poised to sign a lucrative $28 million, eight-year endorsement deal with Nike, which includes launching her own signature shoe.

However, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has voiced that Clark’s contract undervalues her, suggesting she deserves much more. ‘If people want to complain about Caitlin Clark getting screwed complain about this,’ Portnoy expressed on X. ‘8 year 28 million deal is STEALING. 8 years 80 million min is her worth and that’s still prob too cheap. ‘I hope she has an early opt out if they don’t pay up when she blows through this deal.’

Additionally, Clark received competing offers from Under Armour and Adidas, worth $16 million over four years and $6 million over four years, respectively, with each deal also including a signature shoe, as reported by the WSJ.

Clark is expected to earn just over $76,000 in her rookie season with the Fever, whose season opener is scheduled for May 14 against the Connecticut Sun.
