The world of rap is no stranger to controversies and so-called rap beefs, which can significantly boost an artist’s popularity. For example, the year 2024 has already seen notable disputes between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj, and more recently, between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, which has become the most talked-about conflict.
Kendrick’s diss track “Like That” benefited from this, topping the Hot 100 for three weeks. Although DaBaby hasn’t been directly involved in any major rap beefs this year, he shared some intriguing insights during a recent podcast appearance.
In the podcast, DaBaby revealed that a “well known” and “lyrical” rapper had contacted him with a proposal. This rapper had noticed the surge in popularity resulting from the Kendrick and J. Cole feud and suggested initiating a staged beef to capitalize on the heightened public interest. According to one of the podcast hosts, the plan was for them to appear as adversaries in public while remaining friends in private.
