DirecTV Offers Compensation Amid Disney Channel Blackout
DirecTV offers $20 credits to customers as the Disney-owned channel blackout continues into its third day, impacting over 11 million subscribers amid major sports seasons.
Bollywood Fever: DirecTV is offering compensation to its customers as the blackout of Disney-owned channels, including ESPN, FX, and local ABC affiliates, stretches into its third day.
The outage has affected at least 11 million subscribers, disrupting access to popular programming just as the college football and NFL seasons kick off and the US Open tennis tournament enters its final days.
To address the inconvenience, DirecTV is providing credits of at least $20 to customers using its DirecTV, DirecTV Stream, and U-Verse services.
However, these credits won’t be automatically applied; customers will need to apply for the rebate online.
The blackout began on Sunday when Disney pulled its channels from DirecTV’s lineup after the two companies failed to reach a new distribution agreement.
In response, DirecTV has stated that it is exploring all options to restore the channels to its service as quickly as possible.
Disney, on the other hand, has emphasized that it will not agree to a deal that undervalues its extensive portfolio of TV channels and programming.
As the stalemate continues, affected customers are encouraged to apply for the compensation while awaiting a resolution.
