Link Established Between Central California Mass Shooting and February Double Homicide
Authorities have linked last month’s mass shooting, which resulted in four fatalities, to the murder of two cousins in central California in February, according to a statement released on Thursday by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.
As the investigation into these two violent incidents continues, over 50 search warrants have been executed. “There have been several ancillary arrests related to these crimes as investigators work towards solving these murders,” the sheriff’s office disclosed. The statement further emphasized that “Several persons of interest have been generated and all leads are being investigated.”
The March 3 shooting occurred at an outdoor party in King City, where masked gunmen exited a vehicle and shot eleven people before fleeing the scene. Four of the victims succumbed to their injuries. The earlier incident on February 4 involved the fatal shootings of two cousins in Soledad, located about 20 miles northwest of King City in the Salinas Valley agricultural region.
Authorities noted that the suspects in the February case are believed to have gang affiliations, although the victims were not connected to any gangs.
