Live video coverage by local media captured individuals hastily removing large paintings from the premises to protect them from the blaze. The building, notable for its spire designed to resemble the intertwined tails of four dragons, was undergoing renovations when the fire erupted.

Originally serving as the Danish stock exchange, this Dutch Renaissance style structure now functions as the headquarters for the Danish Chamber of Commerce. “We are met by a terrible sight. The Bourse is on fire,” the Chamber of Commerce reported on X.

In response to the emergency, Copenhagen police have advised the public to refrain from driving in the downtown area of the city.
