Bollywoodfever, March 11: Throughout 2024, PUBG is poised to introduce a slew of enhancements that are set to significantly evolve the gameplay experience.

This widely popular free-to-play battle royale, which has consistently ranked as a top game on console and PC via Steam for six years since its debut, will feature a series of exciting updates.

These include the introduction of destructible environments, an upgrade to Unreal Engine 5, the addition of user-generated content, and more throughout the year.

Krafton, the game’s developer, has also announced plans for new partnerships (which have increasingly become a significant aspect of PUBG), enhancements to the matchmaking system, and a commitment to bolstering anti-cheat measures.

One of the standout features, destructible environments, will allow players to strategically demolish parts of buildings or construct defensive barriers.

This addition aims to introduce a dynamic new layer of strategy and tactics by enabling new attack routes and secure zones.

An initial preview of this feature is expected in an April update, with further refinements to come.

In an effort to maintain a stable gaming ecosystem and offer players a wider variety of choices, Krafton is set to roll out updates to gunplay every two months.

Before these updates are officially launched, players will have the opportunity to test new weapons in the Arcade’s Gunplay Labs. Additionally, Krafton is focusing on developing survival-oriented items and enhancing game modes to cater to a more “casual” gaming experience, indicating a desire to broaden the game’s appeal.

The transition to Unreal Engine 5 is described by Krafton as “the beginning of an exciting new chapter” for PUBG, which is currently built on Unreal Engine 4.

Furthermore, the introduction of user-generated content is aimed at giving PUBG a community-driven dimension reminiscent of Fortnite, enabling players to create, share, and engage with their own content within a dynamic, creator-centric ecosystem.

Since its launch on PC via Steam in March 2017, PUBG has achieved global success, setting a record on Steam for the highest peak concurrent player count for a single game with over 3.2 million players online simultaneously in January 2018.

The game has since expanded to consoles and mobile, with the mobile version surpassing one billion downloads.

Although the console and PC versions of PUBG may not currently match the peak popularity of its early years, it continues to be a major draw, attracting hundreds of thousands of players on Steam at any given time.
