Richard Gere’s Heartfelt Gesture to Wife Alejandra Silva
Richard Gere honors wife Alejandra Silva with a romantic gesture at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, capturing the hearts of onlookers. The couple, who share two sons, continue to enjoy life away from the spotlight.
Bollywood Fever: Richard Gere made headlines with a romantic gesture towards his wife, Alejandra Silva, during the 2024 Venice Film Festival’s Wolfs red carpet premiere on Sunday, September 1.
The 75-year-old Pretty Woman star showcased his deep affection for Silva, 41, by bowing down on one knee, extending his right arm toward her in a display of admiration. Silva, beaming with joy, graciously accepted the gesture, creating a moment that captivated both fans and onlookers alike.
The touching scene was so profound that red carpet staff and security officials couldn’t resist capturing the moment on their phones.
Gere’s gesture wasn’t just a display of affection but also a powerful statement of his adoration for Silva, with whom he shares two young sons, Alexander, 5, and another child, 3, whose name they have kept private.

Gere and Silva, who tied the knot in April 2018, have made it a point to maintain a relatively private life, shielding their family from the public eye.
However, the Venice Film Festival was a rare exception, as the couple also attended the annual amfAR Gala with Gere’s 24-year-old son, Homer, from his previous marriage to Carey Lowell. Gere was honored at the prestigious event, further cementing the specialness of the day.
In a rare glimpse into their personal life, Silva marked Father’s Day in June by sharing a heartfelt post on Instagram.
She posted photos of Gere with their sons on a beach, accompanied by a touching message: “Happy Father’s Day, to the most wonderful dad four boys could ever wish for. Your endless patience, love, and dedication are truly remarkable. Love, Mom, James, Alexander, Albert Homer ♥️♥️ #happyfathersday.”
The post highlighted Gere’s role not just as a father to their two young sons but also as a stepfather to Silva’s son, Albert, 9.
Silva’s warm tribute came after Gere revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair Spain that the family plans to permanently relocate from New York City to Madrid, Spain. “For me, going to Madrid is going to be a great adventure because I have never lived full-time outside of the United States,” Gere shared.
Gere, who celebrated his 75th birthday at the Venice Film Festival, also reflected on his iconic role alongside Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman during a masterclass hosted by Cartier.
When asked about one of the film’s most memorable scenes, involving an intimate moment with Roberts at a piano, Gere humorously downplayed their on-screen chemistry. “No chemistry,” he joked, before revealing that the sultry scene was actually improvised. “I mean, this actor and this actress, obviously, had no chemistry between them … I haven’t seen that in a long time, too. It was a sexy, sexy scene.”
As Gere and Silva continue to cherish their life together, their recent appearance at the Venice Film Festival is a reminder of their deep bond and the enduring love they share, both on and off the red carpet.
