Shiloh Jolie Moves to Legally Drop Brad Pitt’s Surname Amid Ongoing Family Tensions
Bollywood Fever: Shiloh Jolie, the daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is taking legal steps to drop her father’s surname. According to a notice published in The LA Times and obtained by TMZ, Shiloh, who turned 18 in May, has filed to change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie. This move follows her hiring and paying for her own lawyer, indicating a desire for independence in this decision.
The notice is a standard procedure before a court approves a name change, inviting anyone with objections to appear in court later this month.
A source close to the matter told DailyMail.com that Shiloh’s decision is partly connected to past allegations of abuse and violations of her victim rights. This revelation suggests that the contentious history between her parents may continue to impact their children legally and emotionally.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s bitter divorce and custody battles have been well-documented. Although Pitt won a 50-50 custody agreement in 2021, it was overturned on appeal. He has since been ordered to undergo ‘reunification therapy’ with his children and has faced numerous legal disputes with Jolie.
Despite his efforts to maintain a relationship with his children, including setting up a skate park and art studio at his home, the relationship remains strained. In 2016, Pitt’s son Pax claimed in an Instagram post that the younger children “tremble with fear in his presence.” This statement followed the infamous private jet incident where Jolie accused Pitt of physical assault, an allegation detailed in an FBI report published in 2022.

The report claims that during a flight to California in 2016, a drunk Pitt physically assaulted Jolie and verbally attacked their children. He allegedly grabbed Jolie by the head, shook her, and pushed her down, telling the children that she was “f***ing up this family” while also pouring beer on her and a blanket she shared with the children. Sources close to Pitt have denied these allegations, stating he never hit the children, though they admitted he had been drinking.
The protracted divorce, ongoing for eight years, is marked by continued bitterness and unresolved issues. Sources indicate that neither Pitt nor Jolie is willing to let go, prolonging the legal battles and affecting their children.
Pitt, who began dating publicly with Jolie after his divorce from Jennifer Aniston in 2005, was legally declared single in 2019 but remains entangled in unresolved divorce proceedings. He is currently dating Ines de Ramon, 35.
Shiloh’s decision to change her surname signifies a step towards personal autonomy amid a backdrop of family discord and public scrutiny.
