Simone Ashley Defends Nicola Coughlan Against Body Shamers: ‘She’s an Inspiration to Women Everywhere’
Simone Ashley stands up for Bridgerton co-star Nicola Coughlan against body shamers, praising her resilience and inspirational impact on women.
Bollywood Fever: Nicola Coughlan’s haters aren’t going to stop hating, but that’s fine because she’s an inspiration to women everywhere, according to her co-star Simone Ashley.
Simone Ashley, who has played Kate in the second and third seasons of Bridgerton, recently addressed the online hate her co-star has received regarding her body since her famous sex scene from the show’s third season.

During a discussion at a festival in Monaco, Ashley was candid, stating that while haters are always going to hate, Nicola isn’t letting it affect her. She assured everyone that Nicola is incredibly tough and responds to the negativity with confidence and intelligence.
Ashley emphasized that she views Nicola as an inspiration to all people, especially women, a sentiment that even the haters cannot diminish.
Coughlan has managed the media scrutiny surrounding her intimate scenes with humor and grace. For instance, when a fan called her “brave” for undressing on the show, Coughlan agreed but with a twist, saying that more people with “perfect breasts” should go topless because they don’t get nearly enough representation.
The second part of Bridgerton’s third season was released just last week, and the entire season is shattering Netflix records. Both Simone and Nicola have every reason to be proud of their success.
And best of all, they’ve clearly got each other’s backs, showcasing a strong bond and mutual support that goes beyond their on-screen roles.
