Bowling Alley Owner Claims Takeoff’s Own Conduct Resulted in His Death, Responding to Recent Lawsuit
The proprietor of the bowling alley where rapper Takeoff met his untimely death has attributed the incident to the rapper’s own actions, countering a lawsuit with a request for dismissal.
Bowling Alley Seeks Dismissal of Takeoff’s Lawsuit
On March 21, Radar disclosed that the owners of the Texas-based 810 Billiards & Bowling, where Takeoff was fatally shot in 2022, have requested their removal from a lawsuit initiated by Takeoff’s mother.
In their defense, the bowling alley management argued, “There is a reasonable probability that the incident in question and the resulting damages were directly caused, in whole or in part, by unidentified individuals involved in illegal gambling and/or unauthorized firearm possession…The defendant maintains they are not responsible for the plaintiff’s damages as the plaintiff’s actions or lack thereof significantly contributed to the injuries sustained.”

Tatiana Davenport, Takeoff’s mother, in her 2023 wrongful death lawsuit, claimed that the defendants—which also comprise LVA4Houston Greenstreet, Lionstone Partners, Midway Companies, and Cushman & Wakefield of Texas—failed to provide adequate security.
She highlighted that the event held at the bowling alley was a VIP gathering, attended by personalities who naturally demanded higher security measures, none of which, according to her, were implemented.
Takeoff, a member of the rap group Migos, was fatally shot at a Houston bowling alley during a celebration hosted by J Prince Jr. on November 1, 2022. The Houston Police Department reported that an altercation among 40 individuals outside the establishment led to gunfire. Quavo, also a member of Migos, was present but escaped harm.
Takeoff sustained fatal injuries to his head and torso, leading to his immediate death at the scene. In the aftermath, the Houston Police Department apprehended Patrick Xavier Clark, charging him with the murder of Takeoff.
