The misdemeanor conviction will lead to the revocation of Koss’s driving privileges for a year and necessitate his participation in a community restorative justice program.

During the poignant court session, Koss addressed Williams’ relatives, expressing remorse. Williams is mourned by his spouse, Pam Van Sant, and their offspring, Gill Williams and Elinor “Ellie” Williams.

“I’m here to apologize and take responsibility for this tragic accident,” Koss stated in court.

Gill, 32, on behalf of the family, accepted Koss’s apology, indicating their lack of interest in pursuing criminal charges or incarceration for Koss. Nonetheless, Gill conveyed a direct message to Koss.

“I do forgive you, and I hope that you forgive yourself,” Gill told Koss. “I really wish you hadn’t killed my father. I really had to say that.”

Williams passed away at 71 in June 2023, following a motorcycle accident. Barry McPherson, Williams’ representative, confirmed the death to Us Weekly, noting that Williams had been abruptly cut off by a vehicle.

“I’m just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented,” McPherson remarked. “He was an actor’s actor. Filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s. He was really proud of his performance this year. He’s been so happy with the work that I got him. He’s had a balanced career.”

Ellie honored her father with a heartfelt tribute shortly after his sudden demise.

“This is a pain I have never felt. I am absolutely shattered,” she shared on her Instagram Story, accompanied by a nostalgic photo of her with Williams. “Thank you to everyone who has sent messages and kept our family in your hearts during this terrible heartbreak.”

Following the incident, Koss faced charges of gross negligence leading to death. Vermont State Police reported that Koss was maneuvering a Honda Element SUV that crossed into Williams’ motorcycle’s path. Koss, acknowledging his acquaintance with Williams, cooperated with law enforcement and shared his sentiments soon after.

“I am devastated by Mr. Williams’s tragic passing,” Koss conveyed. “I have known Treat for years, both as a part of this close community and as a colleague in theater. He was a friend. I am aware that his family’s grief is profound, and I extend my deepest sympathies to them.”
