In a nail-biting encounter, replacement fly-half Josh Ioane emerged as the hero, calmly slotting two crucial penalties in the dying moments to seal the win on Friday. The Crusaders, who had mounted a spirited comeback from a 17-point halftime deficit, briefly seized the lead with 12 minutes remaining before Ioane’s heroics tipped the scales in the Chiefs’ favor.
