Lionel Messi‘s impressive form continued as he scored twice and added an assist, leading Inter Miami to a 3-1 victory over Nashville SC on Saturday. Alongside his goals, Messi has consistently contributed to each of the six league matches he has played this season, despite missing four games due to injury.

His teammate, Sergio Busquets, also made headlines by scoring his first goal for Miami after moving from Barcelona, where he previously played with Messi. Luis Suárez, another former Barcelona player, set up Messi’s first goal, highlighting the strong chemistry among the teammates.

“Very happy that the goal helped the team win the match,” Busquets expressed in Spanish, emphasizing the team’s overall performance and victory.

Miami’s win against Nashville marked their fifth unbeaten match in the series since Messi joined the team, maintaining their lead in the Eastern Conference with a record of 5-2-3 and 21 points.

Miami faced an early setback when defender Franco Neri inadvertently scored an own goal, giving Nashville the lead in the second minute. However, Messi and Busquets quickly turned the game around with goals in the 11th and 39th minutes respectively.

The match also saw Inter Miami’s goalkeeper, Drake Callender, making crucial saves, including a key stop from a 35-yard attempt by Nashville’s Hany Mukhtar.

As the game neared its conclusion, Messi secured Miami’s win with a penalty kick in the 81st minute after Nashville’s Josh Bauer committed a foul.

Inter Miami’s coach, Gerardo “Tata” Martino, reflected on the team’s initial struggles but noted a significant improvement following Messi’s first goal. “We didn’t play good football during the first 10 minutes but that changed after Leo’s goal,” Martino said.

Looking ahead, Miami will face New England next Saturday, while Nashville hopes to rebound as they host San Jose.
