Travis Hunter takes a subtle jab at Richard Sherman’s “bland” comment with his pre-game outfit as Colorado Buffaloes prepare to face UCF. Hunter continues his stellar two-way season.
BollywoodFever: As the Colorado Buffaloes gear up for their Week 5 Big 12 clash against the UCF Knights, all eyes are on star player Travis Hunter. Before the game, Hunter was spotted walking onto the field wearing a white shirt with the word “bland” prominently displayed in the center, quotation marks included.
Many fans believe this outfit choice was a direct response to former NFL star Richard Sherman’s recent comment, where he referred to Hunter as “kind of bland” as a wide receiver during a segment on Amazon Prime.
This game marks Hunter’s first appearance since Sherman’s remark, and it appears he took the opportunity to send a subtle message. Despite the criticism, Hunter is in the midst of a Heisman-caliber season, excelling both offensively and defensively as a two-way star for Colorado.
Hunter’s Outstanding Season
Sherman may have labeled Hunter’s receiving skills “bland,” but his stats tell a different story. Hunter has been a standout on both sides of the ball, making game-changing plays as a receiver and cornerback. In Colorado’s overtime win over the Baylor Bears, Hunter forced a game-sealing fumble and contributed seven receptions for 130 yards.
This performance solidified Hunter’s place in Colorado history, as he became the first Buffalo receiver to record five consecutive 100-yard receiving games. His streak began with a strong performance against the Utah Utes in 2023, where he notched eight catches for 107 yards and a touchdown.
So far in the 2024 season, Hunter has posted 37 receptions for 472 yards and five touchdowns, making him one of the most productive players in college football.
