Amazon MGM Studios & AGBO Announce ‘The Bluff’ Featuring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Directed by Frank E. Flowers
Bollywoodfever, March 1: Karl Urban is currently in discussions to co-star alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas in ‘The Bluff’, directed by Frank E. Flowers and produced by AGBO Studios and Amazon MGM Studios. Flowers, who contributed as a co-writer for ‘The Bluff’, recently celebrated success with ‘Bob Marley: One Love’, a film that quickly exceeded $120M in global revenue.
‘The Bluff’ is set in the 19th-century Caribbean and tells the story of a former female pirate, portrayed by Chopra Jonas, who is forced to defend her family as she confronts the dark secrets of her previous life.
Planned to commence production in Australia this spring, ‘The Bluff’ will be available for streaming on Prime Video across over 240 countries and territories globally.
This project marks another collaboration among Amazon MGM Studios, AGBO, and Chopra Jonas, following the successful launch of ‘Citadel’ last year.
The spy-thriller series quickly rose to become one of Prime Video’s top new original series, ranking second in viewership outside the U.S. and fourth globally. With the anticipated production of ‘Citadel’s’ second season set to start this year, featuring Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, with Joe Russo directing and AGBO as the executive producer, the partnership continues to grow.
The screenplay for ‘The Bluff’ was a collaborative effort between Frank E. Flowers and Joe Ballarini. The production team includes notable figures from AGBO, such as Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Michael Disco; Cisely Saldana and Mariel Saldana from Cinestar Pictures; and Priyanka Chopra Jonas herself. The executive producers are Kassee Whiting of AGBO; Zoe Saldaña of Cinestar Pictures; Thorsten Schumacher of Rocket Science; alongside Joe Ballarini and Frank E. Flowers.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas brings a wealth of experience with over seventy-five roles in both international and Hollywood films and series. In February 2021, she gained recognition as a New York Times bestselling author for her memoir, ‘Unfinished’.
Her upcoming roles include starring in Prime Video’s ‘Heads of State’ alongside John Cena and Idris Elba. Her production company, Purple Pebble Pictures, holds a first-look film and television deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Chopra Jonas is managed by UTA and Anjula Acharia.
Karl Urban is celebrated for his role in Prime Video’s highly acclaimed series ‘The Boys’ and its spinoff, ‘Gen V’. Represented by UTA, Urban is also renowned for his portrayal of Dr. Bones McCoy in the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek films.
Frank E. Flowers contributed to the screenplay for ‘Shooting Stars’ for Universal, with production by LeBron James.
He is also known for writing and directing the 2004 film ‘Haven’, starring Orlando Bloom. His representation includes UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and the law firm Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher, LLP.
Joe Ballarini is represented by Verve Talent and Literary Agency and attorney Rob Goldman.
