Caitlin Clark solidifies her Rookie of the Year candidacy with stellar performances, leading the Indiana Fever to playoff contention and earning praise as a potential MVP contender.

Bollywood Fever: With just seven games remaining in the WNBA regular season, Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark has tightened her hold on the Rookie of the Year title

What was once a close competition between the 22-year-old and fellow first-year standout Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky has now swung significantly in Clark’s favor.

Since returning from the month-long Olympic break, Clark has been on an extraordinary run, averaging 24.0 points on 47.6 percent shooting, along with 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

She has also been lethal from beyond the arc, sinking 4.0 triples per game at a 40.8 percent clip.

More crucially, Clark’s leadership has propelled the Fever to six wins in their last seven games, bringing their record to 17-16, marking the first time Indiana has gone above .500 this season and positioning them sixth in the WNBA standings.

Clark’s scorching performances have garnered widespread acclaim, leading to growing discussions about her potential as an MVP candidate.

Former Los Angeles Lakers star Mychal Thompson is among those who believe Clark is a legitimate contender for the MVP award.

On Monday, Thompson took to Twitter to highlight Clark’s impact on the league.

“Lemmy see if I got this strait,” Thompson tweeted. “…Best Gard in the WNBA…Leeds leeg in points scored/assisted…Has taken the WORST team in the leeg to solid PLAYOFF contender…Leeds leeg in assists…and then there’s this…Game attendance avrage WITH Caitlin? 15,000…NO Caitlin? 8,000.Thats MVP 2 ME.”

Thompson, the father of five-time NBA All-Star Klay Thompson, presented a compelling case, not only by pointing out Clark’s exceptional statistics but also by emphasizing her impact on fan attendance.

While fan attendance might not be a traditional factor in determining the MVP, it’s an undeniable aspect of her influence on the game.

Although Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson remains the frontrunner for her third MVP title this season, Clark’s meteoric rise suggests that it’s only a matter of time before she claims her first WNBA MVP trophy.

For now, Clark’s focus remains on leading the Fever into the playoffs and securing her place as the league’s top rookie.
