Joe Alwyn Breaks Social Media Silence with Insightful Post
British actor Joe Alwyn made a return to Instagram on February 19, sharing a series of photos for the first time in five months.Â
The collection includes a self-portrait in a mirror, a snapshot of Alwyn photobombing actor Brian Cox at a pre-BAFTA party, as well as images of a casino, the ocean, and a nostalgic throwback from his childhood.
Among the photos, Alwyn included a meme from the UK’s The Office, featuring Ricky Gervais’ character with the caption, “Different drinks for different needs.
This new post from Alwyn, who will turn 33 on February 21, provides a rare glimpse into his life following his breakup with Taylor Swift in April 2023.
While Alwyn has not publicly commented on his split from the “Lover” singer, their past relationship has remained in the spotlight in recent weeks.
Swift’s announcement of her upcoming album The Tortured Poets Department at the 2024 Grammys on February 4 prompted speculation from fans, who connected the title to Alwyn.
Alwyn had previously disclosed his involvement in a WhatsApp group chat called “The Tortured Man Club.
The tracklist for Swift’s 11th studio album, scheduled for release on April 19, includes a song titled “So Long, London”—seemingly referencing her time spent in the city during her six-year relationship with Alwyn.
This title offers a contrast to Swift’s 2019 track “London Boy,” inspired by Alwyn and written during her Lover era.
While Swift may be reflecting on her past in The Tortured Poets Department, she has moved on from her relationship with Alwyn.
In recent months, Swift has been romantically linked to NFL star Travis Kelce, with the pair reportedly growing closer since July. Swift shared with TIME in December that they had spent significant time together privately, away from the public eye.
Despite her past experiences, Swift now maintains a different perspective on navigating relationships in the public eye.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” she noted. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
